Eyrie — Account and Data Deletion
Effective date: 7 October 2026 Last updated: 29 October 2026
1. Your choices
1.1 You control your Eyrie data. You can:
(a) delete individual items (a child, a device, a Place) — which stops future collection for that item;
(b) delete your whole Account and its data; or
(c) request deletion without signing in, by emailing us.
1.2 On plans that include data export, you can also export a full copy of your data before deleting it (see clause 5).
2. Delete individual items in the app or on the website
2.1 To stop collecting or sharing specific data:
(a) Turn off location sharing on a device, or remove a device, to stop location collection immediately for that device.
(b) Remove a child to delete that child's profile and associated data (location history, visits, alerts, messages, check-ins and medical information).
(c) Delete a Place or other item from its settings screen.
2.2 These actions are available in the Eyrie app and on the website
(https://eyrie.au) under the relevant settings.
3. Delete your whole Account
3.1 To delete your entire Account and all associated data:
- Sign in on the website (account, subscription and deletion are managed there).
- Go to Account → Privacy & data → Delete everything.
- Confirm.
3.2 What happens straight away. Your Account stops working: every session is signed out, every Guardian is unlinked and every child's phone is unpaired. Any paid plan is cancelled at the same time, with no automatic refund for the unused part of the period (see the Terms of Service, clauses 10.8 and 10.10). We email the Account Holder to confirm the Account has been deleted.
4. Request deletion without signing in
4.1 If you cannot sign in, email privacy@eyrie.au from the email address on your Account (or tell us enough to locate it), with the subject "Delete my account and data". We may need to verify your identity before acting, to protect your Account.
5. Export your data first (optional)
5.1 On plans that include data export, you can request a full data export from your account settings before deleting. When it's ready, you can download it; the download link is available for 7 days and is then removed. On any plan, you can ask privacy@eyrie.au for a copy of your personal information.
6. What gets deleted
6.1 When you delete your Account, we delete or de-identify the personal information we hold about your Family, including:
- account and family details, and child, guardian and trusted-contact profiles;
- location fixes, place visits, timeline and movement history;
- Places and Routines;
- alerts, SOS events, check-ins and text messages;
- device records, telemetry and push tokens;
- any medical information and activity signals; and
- support tickets and diagnostics associated with your Account.
7. What we may retain, and why
7.1 We may retain limited information after deletion where the law requires it or where we have another lawful basis, for example:
(a) financial and tax records (such as invoices and payment records held to meet tax and accounting obligations) — for as long as that law requires;
(b) information needed to resolve disputes, enforce our terms, or prevent fraud or abuse — for a limited period;
(c) records we must keep to meet a legal obligation (for example, a lawful preservation request or a moderation/safety record required by law); and
(d) de-identified or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.
7.2 Retained information is kept only as long as necessary for its purpose and is then deleted or de-identified. Full card numbers are held by our payment provider (Stripe), not by us.
8. Timing
8.1 Account deletion begins when you confirm it (or when we verify an emailed request). We complete deletion or de-identification of your personal information within 30 days, except for information we are permitted or required to retain under clause 7. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups expire on their normal cycle.
8.2 Some data ages out automatically even without a deletion request — for example, location history is deleted after the number of days included in your plan.
9. Effect of deletion
9.1 Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. After deletion you will lose access to your Family's data and history, and Guardians and Children in your Family will lose access to the shared features. Deleting your Account is separate from cancelling a subscription (you can cancel and keep your Account — see the Terms of Service, clause 10.9).
